“Do… or do not. There is no try.” ~ Yoda, character from Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
There’s something to be said about this strange and yet cute fictional character saying such wise words of wisdom. And it goes very far in reminding us that we have a choice on how we want to view ourselves. Yoda offers only two choices for young Luke as he questions his own abilities. Either do it or don’t!
Are we, as human beings, capable of great things?
The answer is yes, yes, YES!
And what if the only thing that is holding us back from our greatness is our own mind telling us that we can’t do it? Or, when we do muster up enough courage to think it is possible, we still place a roadblock in front of ourselves by saying we will ‘try’ and then end up failing at our attempt?
The way I see it, the only thing that is standing between you getting what you want is simply a choice on how you want to view the situation. Let’s say you tell yourself you are going to ‘try’ to stop thinking negatively…well, what do you think the outcome will be? Will you actually succeed in not thinking negatively, or will you stay stuck in the space of trying?
What would become possible for you if you were to jump with both feet and say something like this statement below?
“Today, I will let go of any self-limiting beliefs about myself and instead CHOOSE to believe that I can [plug in that thing you want to do or have here].”
Because at the end of the day, you have a choice.
You have a choice on how you want to view yourself, view life, view others, view your career and the choice in thoughts that will either reveal your greatness – or not.
And the biggest secret to happiness lies here…in your own ability to choose the thought that will bring you happiness…
